The Mason Comets Boys Basketball team opened their 2016-17 season with a 70-59 victroy against Cooper HS (KY) on Saturday at the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic in Hillsboro, Ohio. The annual showcase features some of the top teams in the region that included the Comets.

After a close first half, Mason held off the Jags in the final minutes to grab the win. Senior Eddie Puisis scored 28 point and was named the games MVP. Puisis also collected 7 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

Mason will host Loveland on Tuesday at the Middle School Arena. Varsity tipoff at 7:30 pm.

Mason Boys bball goes to 2-0 on the season Tuesday night with a non-conference 76-51 win over visiting Loveland. The Comets never trailed in this one building a first half lead of 41-29 and never looking back.

Three players scored double figures; Eddie Puisis 28, Tanner Knue 17 and Matt King 13. Ben Schutte collected 10 rebounds on the night. Puisis also had 5 steals.

Next up Mason will begin their GMC schedule with an away contest at Fairfield this Friday night.

The Mason boys outscored Fairfield 27-4 in the 2nd quarter to earn their 1st league win of the season and go onto a 59-44 triumph last Friday. The Comets held a 30 point lead at half and never looked back.

Eddie Puisis continued his scoring onslaught tossing in 24 points to lead all scorers. Tanner Knue added 13.

The Comets (3-0, 1-0) will visit Lakota West this Tuesday night. The Firebirds (1-1) are coming off a 61-39 loss to East this past Friday.

The Comets turned a close 1st half into a 2nd half rout as Mason defeated Lakota West 72-51 on Tuesday night. After a slim first half lead of only 3 points, Mason put together a 24-10 advantage after the break to build a lead that the Firebirds could not overcome. The Comets dominated the boards with a 31-19 rebounding edge in the contest.

Balanced scoring prevailed once again in the win with three players scoring in double digits; Matt King 19, Ben Schutte 16 and Eddie Puisis 10. King pulled a double double with 13 carooms.

With the win Mason's record stays unblemished at 4-0 (2-0 GMC). They will face another undefeated foe this Friday night in a big GMC battle at home against Oak Hills (3-0, 2-0). The Highlanders are the #2 ranked team in the early prep polls. Varsity tipoff is slated for 7:30 PM.

Mason boys lost their first game of the season last Friday, 49-43 to Oak Hills. The defeat snapped a 18 game GMC winning streak dating back to the 2014-15 season.

Mason, the No. 3 team in the Enquirer’s Division I coaches poll, fought back from s 12-point first quarter deficit to third-quarter leads of 30-29 and 33-30, but No. 4 Oak Hills ended the ended the third quarter on a 6-0 run. Mason, which went 1-for-14 on 3-pointers, pulled within one twice in the fourth quarter. In the final minutes of play the Highlanders got key basketballs and defensively stymied the Comets, to hold on for the win.

Senior forward Matt King scored 14 points to lead Mason (4-1, 2-1), which had won 33 of its last 34 GMC games.

Next up the Comets visit Wilmington for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Dec. 28th..

The Comets started 2017 with a big home GMC win over Lakota East on Tuesday night by a score of 48-34. The contest was close until Mason pulled away in the fourth quarter. The Comets put up a 56% shooting night and limited the Hawks to just 34%. Mason led at half 24-18.

Three players hit double figures; Eddie Puisis 12 and Ben Schutte and Matt King 10.

Mason (6-1, 3-1) goes on the road this Friday when they visit Hamilton (3-5, 2-2).

Mason Boys Bball took down their rival Sycamore on Tuesday night by a score of 74-38. The Comets posted a 36-13 advantage at half then expanded their lead after the break. A pressure defensed forced the Aves into 28 turnovers on the night.

Leading the scoring for Mason was Eddie Puisis with 16 and Matt King with 11.

Next up the #4 ranked Comets (8-1, 5-1) will visit Colerain (2-9, 0-6) on Friday, Jan. 13th.

The Mason boys basketball team defeated Colerain on Friday, Jan. 13th by a score of 85-50. The Comets built a 35-23 lead at the half and continued the surge after the half. EddiePuisis led the Comets with 28pts 3reb 5stl. King with 14pts 6reb as well .

Next up Mason (9-1, 6-1) boys will host Kings tonight in a non-conference affair.

The Mason boys bball team secured a 69-43 win on Tuesday and against non-conference Kings HS. The Comets led by only 3 at the half but outscored the Knights 38-15 in the final two quarters.

Eddie Puisis continued his scoring rampage with 23 points on the night. Matt King contributed 13 and Noah Pedelty came off the bench and scored 11.

Mason (10-1, 6-1) gets back to GMC action for the remainder of the season with a home game against Fairfield tonight.

The Comet boys started slow last Friday at home against Fairfield. Mason fought their way back from an early 12-5 deficit and went on to win 56-45. Mason took a 20-19 lead into the locker room at half time, then held off the resurgent Indians to stay one game behind Oak Hills in the GMC title race.

Mason was led by Eddie Puisis and Matt King, scoring 16 and 14 points, respectiviely.

Next up Mason (11-1, 7-1) will host Middletown on Tuesday, Jan. 24th.

The Mason boys basketball team earned a lopsided 76-54 victory over league leading Oak Hills last Friday night. The highly antcipated contest ended up being a washout of the Highlanders who allowed a season high point total to the Comets. The Comets did it by shooting 61 percent from the field, 58 percent from 3-point range, and 92 percent from the foul line. It was Mason's 9th straight win of the season.

The win creates a tie atop the Greater Miami Conference standings between the Highlanders and the Comets. OH got the upper hand in an earlier meeting between the two teams. Junior Noah Pedelty led the Comets with a career-high 25 points off the bench and senior Eddie Puisis finished with 23.

After the first quarter, which went back-and-forth and ended with Mason leading 13-12, Oak Hills struggled to find any real rhythm on the offensive end. The defensive end wasn’t much better. Mason totaled 42 points combined in the second and third quarters, nearly topping its game total from earlier in the season against the Highlanders.

Mason (13-1, 9-1) is seeking to defend its GMC title from the last two seasons, but has a tough schedule down the stretch of the 2017 season. Next up they will host Princeton (9-6) on Tuesday, Jan. 31start.

The Comet Boys Basketball team suffered their second GMC loss of the season to Princeton on Tuesday night. Final score 51-45. Mason had an off shooting night hitting just 23% from the field. The loss of GMC scoring leader Eddie Puisis due to sickness didn't help.

The two teams were even at 32 points apiece heading into the final frame. The Vikings made shots when it counted and took the lead for good at 40-36 with 4:04 remaining in the game. Matt King led the Comets with 14 points on the night.

Mason (13-2, 9-2) will look to regroup this Friday, Feb. 3rd when they host Hamilton.

The Comets put up 26 points in the first quarter Friday night and overwhelmed Hamilton 72-55 in Greater Miami Conference play at the Mason Arena.

Mason (14-2, 10-2) keeps their GMC hopes alive, but still trail Oak Hills by one game heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Next up the Comets visit Lakota East on Tuesday, February 7th.

Mason won its 15th game of the season on Tuesday night with a 59-44 victory over home team Lakota East. The Comets came out fast and furious in the first half, unleashing a strong offensive effort while forcing the Hawks into numerous turnovers. Mason led by 14 at the break. The Comets continued to frustrate East in the next two quarters pressuring them to commit 16 turnovers.

The Hawks got as closed as 9 but were unable to sustain a rally. Three Comets scored double figures; Noah Pedelty and Tanner Knue each had 15 while Matt King dropped in 10. King also had 8 rebounds.

Next up Mason (15-2, 11-2) hosts their final regular season home game on Friday (senior night) against Lakota West. The Comets remain 1 game away from first place Oak Hills.

The Mason boys basketball team played their final home game last Friday and won 68-40 over visiting Lakota West. The Comet lead went as high as 30 points after three quarters and the victory was hardly, never in doubt.

Eddie Puisis (17) and Carlos Lewis (14) led Mason in scoring on the night. Seniors Matt King, Ben Schutte, Matt Delottell, Carlos Lewis and Eddie Puisis were recognized in pre-game ceremonies for their contributions to the Comet basketball program.

Mason (16-2, 12-2) will visit Princeton on Tuesday night then close out their regular season with a game at Sycamore on Friday, Feb. 17th. The Comets remain 1-game away from Oak Hills in the GMC title race. The Highlanders (17-3, 13-1) host Sycamore and Fairfield this week to end their season.

Mason earned the #4 seed in the upcoming Division 1 Sectional. They will play the winner of the St. Xavier/Lakota West contest at West (or alternate site) on Wednesday, March 1 at 8:00 pm.

Mason defeated a resurgent Princeton squad on Tuesday night by a score of 50-44. Mason fell behind 32-31 at the end of the third quarter, after leading at the half by 3. The Comets outscored the Vikes 19-12 in the final frame to come away with another GMC win.

Tanner Knue stepped up his game and dropped in 16 points to lead Mason. His teammates all contributed in the victory.

Mason (17-2, 13-2) stays one game out of the GMC lead, behind Oak Hills, heading into the final game of the regular season. The Highlanders need a home win versus Fairfield to clinch an outright GMC title.

Next up the Comets will visit Sycamore on Friday, Feb. 17th.

Mason Boys Bball concluded their regular season last Friday with a 65-56 win over Sycamore. The Comets had a big third quarter outscoring the Aves 18-5 to build a lead they couldn't overcome. Mason (14-2) finishes as the GMC Runner-Up to Oak Hills (15-1).

Leading the way for the Comets last Friday was Matt King who scored 20 points. Tanner Knue added 18 and Noah Pedelty scored 10. Ben Schutte grabbed 10 rebounds and just missed a double-double with 9 points.

SECTIONAL

vs. St. Xavier

The Mason Boys Basketball team punched their ticket to the Sectional Final on Wednesday night. The Comets took on a physical St. Xavier boys team and went on to a 59-49 victory.

Mason fell behind early in the contest by as many as 11 points. An administrative technical foul late in the 1st quarter swung momentum back to the Comets who went on to lead at the half 32-29.

Most of the 3rd and 4th quarter the score changed hands. Late in the game the Comets pulled away with some timely shots and stout defense. The Bombers were forced to foul in the final seconds but Mason sank free throws and iced the win to move on.

Matt King had a big game scoring 17 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Ben Schutte added 10 points and 6 rebounds while Noah Pedelty also scored 10. Eddie Puisis and freshman Max Land both returned from the injury list to add important contributions to the win.

It will be an all GMC Sectional Final this Saturday back at Lakota West. Mason will take on Lakota East who advanced with a close win over Kings. The Comets had the upper had in the two meetings this season against the Thunderhawks. Tip off is slated for 7:00 PM. The winner will advance to the District Final on Saturday March 11th at Dayton's UD Arena against either Wayne or Centerville.

SECTIONAL FINAL

vs. Lakota East

Mason boys basketball claimed a Sectional Championship versus Lakota East on Saturday at Lakota West. The Comets rushed off to a big early lead, held off the Thunderhawks in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, and then put the game away late in the contest. Mason will advance to the District final after beating their GMC opponent by a 52-34 final.

Playing without starter Ben Schutte, Mason took advantage of their smothering defense and forced the Hawks into 10 first quarter turnovers and grabbed a 12 point advantage. East (16-8) closed the half on a 13-3 run to make it a two-point game at the break.

The Hawks, who finished with 15 turnovers, tied the game three times with chances to pull ahead in the third quarter, but the Comets never let them take a lead. Mason re-established the upper hand with some quick transition baskets to open the fourth quarter as part of a 12-0 run in the first five minutes, and the gap never closed within 11 points after that. Mason finished out the game at the free-throw line, making 13 of 16 attempts in the final period.

Mason had three guys finish in double figures led by Eddie Puisis’ 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tanner Knue added 12 points, Noah Pedelty had 10 and Matt King chipped in nine.

The Comets (20-2) will prepare to play for a District Championship and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen when they face Centerville this Saturday, March 11th, 3:00 pm at UD Arena.

This is the 3rd time Mason has advanced to the District Championship game. They have never won a District Title. Last season they fell in the same game to Wilmington HS. The Comets made their first appearance in the District Finals back in 2009 when they fell to Princeton HS.

The Elks (15-8) defeated Wayne 74-58 to advance to face the Comets. The winner will earn a Regional Semi-Final berth at Wright State University on Wednesday, March 15th.

BOYS WINS FIRST DIVISION 1 DISTRICT!

ADVANCE TO SWEET 16!

The Mason Boys Basketball team advanced in the post season on Saturday, winning the program's first Division 1 District Championship. The Comets held off the Centerville Elks 44-38 at Dayton's UD Arena to achieve their first District Title since winning a D2 championship 24 years ago.

Centerville got the early jump in the game with Mason finding it necessary to call an early timeout down 7-2 midway through the first quarter. Eddie Puisis then scored five of Mason's next six points and the Comets held a first quarter 8-7 lead.

Centerville shot a blistering 6-of-8 from the field in the second quarter to lead at half 23-21. However, Puisis and the Comets scored the first two baskets of the second half to regain the lead. From there, the Elks would get within a point but the Comets were able to slowly widen the gap. A second Puisis three-pointer put Mason up 39-33 with a little over four minutes to go.  The Comets would lead by eight late in the game to hold off any Elk come-back attempt.

A key part of the game was turnovers with Mason forcing Centerville into a dozen that turned into 18 points. The Comets, who may be longer than many teams realize, won the battle of the boards 27-23.

Puisis finishied with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Tanner Knue had 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Noah Pedelty made a huge block of an Elk shot in the final minutes and scored 6 points. Matt King scored 6 and rebounded 6.

Mason (21-2) will get a shot at #1 ranked, and undefeated Moeller (25-0) in the SWEET SIXTEEN. The Comets and the Crusaders will meet for a chance to advance to state, this coming Wednesday, 6:15, at Wright State's Nutter Center. Moeller defeated Walnut Hills 57-44 to advance. The winner will meet either LaSalle or Springfield on Friday, March 17th back at Wright State for the Regional Final.

REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL

vs. Moeller

Mason boys basketball gave undefeated and #1 ranked Moelller just about everything they wanted in Wednesday's Regional Semi-Final at Wright State. Moeller and Mason last met March 3, 2003, in a sectional final with the Crusaders winning 74-55.

The Comets played Moeller as tough as any other team this season but fell a little short, losing 60-57 and ending a memorable campaign as one of the best 16 teams in the state.

Both teams displayed torrid shooting with Moeller hitting 66.7 percent and Mason 56.1. The 57 points for the Comets was the most scored against Moeller all season. The Comets came out blazing in the first quarter pushing the pace and twice racking up leads of seven points.  

Still on the run in the second quarter, Mason opened up a 23-13 lead on Moeller. The Crusaders fought and eventually tied the Comets with 45 ticks before the half. The first half shooting was lights out with Moeller at 70 percent and Mason at 62.5 from the field.

The first points of the third quarter went to Moeller and the Crusaders would not again relinquish the lead. They led 48-43 going to the fourth.

Mason twice got within a bucket in the fourth, but Moeller was able to answer with baskets or free throws. Moeller did miss a free throw with :09 left, allowing Mason a three-point shot by Puisis, but it was a miss. A final heave by Ben Schutte would have tied the game, but the 75-footer hit the backboard to the right of the rim.

Matt King made 9-of-11 of his shots to lead Mason and all scorers with 24 points. Mason finishes the season 21-3. It was the final prep game for Eddie Puisis, Carlos Lewis, Matthew DeLotell, Ben Schutte and Matt King.

POST SEASON GMC ACCOLADES

With the end of the basketball season on Wednesday night, the GMC has released their 2016-17 boys basketball honors.

Senior Eddie Puisis has been named the GMC Athlete of the Year for boys basketball. Its the 2nd consecutive season that a Mason player has earned this honor. Puisis joins his sophomore sister, Sammie Puisis, as the first brother/sister duo to win the GMC Player of the Year in the same season.

Senior Matt King earned the Defensive Player of the Year in the GMC for the 2nd year in a row and the third straight season a Mason players has won this award. King has had a remarkable career for the Comets. He will attend Ohio Dominican University next season on a basketball scholarship.

Both Puisis and King were 1st Team All GMC for the second year in a row. Senior Ben Schutte was a 2nd Team All GMC pick.

Congratulations to these players!

The Mason Girls Basketball team started this season on Nov. 25th with a 50-40 win at Springboro.

Three players scored in double figures in the win; Samari Mowbray 15, Sammie Puisis 11 and Tihanna Fulton 11. Anna Brinkman grabbed 11 rebounds in the effort.

The Mason girls bball team played in the Journey to the Tourney Competition, a showcase event for the top teams in the nation on Saturday, Nov. 27th. The Comerts faced a top ranked Forest Trail HS (N.C.) team and won their 2nd game of the sesaon. In a back-and-forth battle the Comets managed to come out on top by a final score of 55-44.

Scoring leaders for Mason: Samari Mowbray 21 and Sammie Puisis 19. Megan Wagner dished out 5 assists in the effort. The Comets shots a whopping 56% behind the arch in the contest.

Mason got their first GMC win of the season on Tuesday, with a 71-33 blowout at Colerain. No details available as of yet.

The Comets start 2016-17 at 3-0 and have a huge early season matchup at Lakota West this Saturday. The contest is a re-match of last years Regional Championship. The Firebirds (defending GMC Champs) are off to a strong start at 3-0. Varsity tip is 2:00 pm.

The Mason Girls Basketball team earned a big early season win at Lakota West on Saturday. Final score Comets 44 and the Firebirds 42. The loss was Lakota West’s first in the GMC since a one-point defeat at Mason on Jan. 11, 2014. The Firebirds (3-1, 1-1), ranked No. 1 in the Enquirer’s Division I preseason coaches’ poll, hadn’t lost at home to a conference rival since a 59-50 loss to Princeton a week earlier in 2014.

Mason junior forward Tihanna Fulton tied the game with a conventional three-point play with 32.1 seconds left and then connected on a short floater off a spin move along the right baseline with four seconds left to give the Comets a 44-42 win.

Fulton sank two free throws with 21 seconds left in the third quarter to give No. 2 Mason (4-0, 2-0) a 30-29 lead – its first since 3-2 with 21.7 seconds left in the first quarter. The 6-foot Fulton led both teams with 12 points, 11 in the second half and seven in the fourth quarter.

Mason outscored Lakota West, 8-2, in second-chance points while committing 10 turnovers to Mason’s eight, including one with 14 seconds left that led to the Comets’ game-winning play. West led by as many as 9 points in the first half.

The Comets set their sights on a big upcoming home game, this Wednesday against GMC foe Oak Hills.

Mason Girls Bball stays undefeated with a 49-41 win over visiting Oak Hills last Wednesday. The Highlanders led by one at the half, but the #1 ranked Comets outscored OH 25-16 down the stretch to grab another win.

Sammie Puisis continued her assault on the league with a 17 point performance to lead all scorers. Tihanna Fulton added 13. Anna Brinkman dished out 5 assists to her teammates.

Mason goes to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the GMC. Next up they host Lakota East this Saturday at 2:00.

Mason girls basketball ran their record to 6-0 (4-0 GMC) last Saturday with a 68-31 win over Lakota East. The Comets overwhelmingly led 57-13 after three quarters of play. Samari Mowbray and Sammie Puisis led the scoring with 18 and 12 points respectively.

Mason goes on the road this Wednesday against Fairfield.

The girls basketball team outscored Fairfield 22-7 in the first quarter and went on to a dominating 70-43 win on Wednesday. Again, balanced scoring by the Comets and a ferious defense continue to be keys to Mason's 7-0 start this season.

Samari Mowbry scored 17, Tihann Fulton 15 and Sammie Puisis 14. The defense forced the Indians into 21 turnovers on the night.

Next up the undefeated and #1 ranked Comets will visit Hamilton on Saturday, Dec. 17th.

The Mason girls basketball team ran their record to 8-0 (6-0 GMC) on Saturday with a 63-47 win over Hamilton. Sammie Puisis dropped 22 points on Big Blue and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Comets built a first half lead of 36-12. Samari Mowbray added 11 points to the Mason attack. Anna Brinkman distributed 6 assists to her teammates.

Next up Mason will host Kettering Fairmont in a rare Friday night affair on Dec. 23rd.

Mason Girls Basketball stays perfect starting the New Year with a 61-34 GMC win over Sycamore on Wednesday night. It was 33-10 at the half. Leading the way for Mason was Anna Brinkmann with 14 and Megan Wagner and Sammie Puisis with 12.

The Comets will host Middletown next Wednesday, January 11th.

Mason will make their annual trip to Berlin, Ohio this coming weekend to participate in the prestigious Classic In The Country Girls Basketball Showcase. The event features some the top players and teams from around the state over the Martin Luther King Day weekend.

The Comets will face Homestead HS at 6:20 pm on Saturday, Jan. 14th. On Sunday they will meet Gates Mills Gilmour Academy at 6:40 pm.

The Comet Girls Basketball team continued their undefeated season on Wednesday with a 69-10 blow out of Middletown. Mason led 24-8 after the first quarter then completely shut down the Middies in the 2nd quarter. The Comet defense held Middletown to just 21% shooting on the day.

Sammie Puisis lead Mason with 20 points followed by Samari Mowbray with 17 and Anna Brinkmann with 16.

On Sunday the Mason girls rebounded with an exciting come-from-behind 63-60 overtime win over Gilmore Academy. Mason trailed by 13 at the break but put together a strong 2nd half to send the game into an extra quarter. The Comets then out scored GA 12-9 to close out a great win at the Classic showcase.

The Comets got strong numbers from Samari Mowbray and Sammie Puisis with each scoring 22 in the contest.

Mason heads into the final third of the season with a 12-1 overall record and perfect 8-0 GMC mark. The Comets were ranked #1 in the State and #13 in the recent USA polls. They will host Princeton on Wednesday, Jan. 18th.

The number 1 ranked Mason girls produceds a 81-30 blow out of Princeton on Wednesday. The Vikings were held to just 25% shooting and never led in the game. The Comets jumped out to a 21-4 lead and never looked back.

Sammie Puisis led all scorers with 28 followed by Samari Mowbray's 18.

Mason (13-1, 9-0) will host Fairfield on Saturday.

The Mason girls earned another league win against visiting Fairfield this past Saturday, 66-40. The Comet ladies ramped it up in the first quarter 19-7 and the Indians couldn't keep up.

Mason shot 56% from the field on the afternoon. Five Comets scored in double digits; Sammie Puisis 17, Samari Mowbray and Tihanna Fulton 12, Megan Wagner and Anna Brinkman 11.

Next up, Mason (14-1, 10-0) will visit Oak Hills on Wednesday, Jan. 25th.

Mason girls basketball didn't get distracted Wednesday night, even though a huge game looms this weekend. The Comets came out strong in the first quarter, running up a 22-2 lead and going on to post their 11th GMC win of the season by a score of 63-24.

Samari Mowbray poured in 23 points to lead the team with Sammie Puisis adding 15.

The stage is set for what could determine the league championship when Lakota West (15-2, 10-1) invades Comet territory this Saturday, Jan. 28th. Mason will put its perfect 11-0 GMC record on the line in the biggest game of the season.

This contest has been moved to the Mason Middle School Arena in anticipation of a big crowd to see the top two teams in the Cincy area. Mason defeated the Firebirds 44-42, in a thrilling two-point win, back on Dec. 3rd. Varsity tipoff is slated for 2:00 PM.

Mason suffered a 64-61 loss at the hands of Lakota West on Saturday before a big turnout at the Middle School Arena. The two GMC jugernaunts were battling for the 2nd time this season, with Mason getting the edge in the first meeting. The outcome put both schools in a dead heat for a GMC title at 11-1 with 4 league contests remaining on the regular season schedule. It was the kind of fast-paced, physical affair that is expected when these two teams clash. Coming into the game, Mason (15-2) was ranked second in the Associated Press state poll, while the Firebirds are fourth.

The Mason girls fell to Alter on Monday night 47-36 in only their 2nd loss of the season. The Comets held a slim 2-point advantage going into the 4th quarter, but got outscored 15-2 in the last 8 minutes. Samari Mowbray led the Comets with 17 points.

Mason (15-3, 11-1) will get back to their winning ways tonight when they visit Lakota East.

Mason got back to their "winning ways" on Wednesday with a 59-36 romp at Lakota East. After a slow start the Comets turned it on and led by 8 at the half. A fourth quarter blow out completed the sweep of the Thunderhawks.

Sammie Puisis was back in form with 21 points and Samari Mowbray added 14. Anna Brinkman swiped 7 steals.

Mason (16-3, 12-1) will host Hamilton on Saturday, Feb. 4th. They'll have two games next week to conclude the regular season; at Princeton on Wednesday and home for senior day, Sat. Feb. 11th against Sycamore.

Mason girls put up their highest point total of the season with a beat down of Hamilton, 88-38, on Saturday. The fifty point margin of victory was also a high for the season.

Mason was led by Samari Mowbray 20, Sammie Puisis 15 and Saylor Norton 11. Makenzie Dixon dished out 6 assists. The Comets shot 54% from the field on the day.

Mason (17-3, 13-1) closes in on the end of the regular season this week with an away game at Princeton on Wednesday and then at home on Saturday, Feb. 11th against Sycamore.

Mason has earned the #2 seed in the upcoming Sectional postseason. The Comets will play the winner of the Mt. Healthy/Amelia contest on Thursday, Feb. 23rd, 6:00 pm at Lakota East.

The Comet girls banged out another win on Wednesday, defeating Princeton 61-45. Mason had a big 2nd quarter outscoring the Vikes 24-7. Sammie Puisis had a big game leading everyone with 29 points and grabbing a double-double with 10 carooms. Samari Mowbray added 10.

The Comets (18-3, 14-1) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a home game versus Sycamore. With a win Mason will earn a share of the GMC title. The Comets were outright GMC champs in the 2012-13 season. Lakota West has been the outright league champion in 2015 and 2016. The two teams would share the title with victories on Saturday.

Mason Girls Basketball won a share of the GMC title this past weekend with a 66-29 romp over Sycamore at the MMS Arena. The Comets and Lakota West tied in the regular season GM standings with identical 15-1 league records. For the Mason girls, this is their 2nd GMC title, winning the conference outright in the 2012-13 season.

Leading the Comets in the win over the Aves, Samari Mowbray with 15, Saylor Norton, Tihanna Fulton and Megan Wagner all had 11 points.

The Mason Girls opened postseason play on Thursday night with a dominating 71-17 performance against an overmatched Amelia team. The scoring included a 12-0 shutout in the 2nd quarter. Mason led 36-5 at the half, and most of the team got in on the action in this lopsided affair.

Samari Mowbray led the Comets with 23 points. Saylor North and Tihanna Fulton rounded out the scoring with 11 and 10 points. Anna Brinkmann grabbed 12 rebounds. North had 5 assists and 7 steals.

Mason girls (20-3) move on to the Sectional Championship next Tuesday at Lakota East. Their opponent will be Turpin HS. Game time is slated for 6:00 pm.

Comets Escape To Win Sectional!

The Mason Girls basketball team rallied from a 13 point first half deficit that set the stage for a dramatic "come-from-beind" postseason win and Sectional Title on Tuesday night at the Lakota East. Their opponent, Turpin HS, made a legitimate upset bid attempt, but was overcome by the Comets 2nd half energy and offensive rebounding to fall by a final score of 37-34. This was the lowest scoring output by a Mason girls team in the past two years, but just enough to escape and advance in the tourney. The Comets were held to just 27% shooting from the field, and committed an uncharacteristical 15 turnovers.

In the first half Turpins defense and efffective 3-point shooting led to a 19-9 lead at the half. After the break Mason came out of the locker room, energized, with a suffocating defense that forced the talented Spartans into 19 turnovers. Still Mason trailed by 11 early in the third quarter. Shots started to fall for Mason late in the quarter and the Comets narrowed the lead to 25-24 to begin the 4th. The score remained tied for several minutes until about half way thru the final quarter, Mason grabbed a lead and then held on till the last seconds of the contest.

Mason was led by Samari Mowbray and Tihanna Fulton's 13 points. Anna Brinkman had some big baskets down the stretch to lead Mason back in the win (6 points). She also grabbed 13 rebounds, 8 of which were off the offensive board. Saylor Norton was credited 4 steals and as a team the Comets collected 14 on the night.

Mason now prepares for a District Championship game against Ursuline (17-7) at Princeton HS this Saturday, March 4th at 3:00 pm. The winner gets a berth in the Regional Semi-Finals at Fairmont's Trent Arena, Wednesday, March 8th at 8:00 pm against the winner of Lakota West and Beavercreek.

Mason Girls Basketball earned their 2nd consecutive and 5th overall District Championship with a huge “come-from-behind” win over Ursuline on Saturday at Princeton HS. The Comets erased a 15-point deficit on their way to a 34-31 win. Mason cut the deficit to 21-13 by halftime despite going 2-for-18 from the field.

Mason didn’t lead until senior Samari Mowbray, after tying the score at 28 on a layup with 6:24 left in the fourth quarter, sank two free throws for a 30-28 lead with 5:12 remaining. She added two more free throws with 58.4 seconds left for a 33-29 lead. Mowbray led Mason with 12 points and 8-8 from the charity stripe. The Mason defense forced 16 Ursuline turnovers and building an 18-9 advantage in points off of turnovers. Junior Anna Brinkmann and freshman Megan Wagner each finished with four steals for Mason.

Mason (22-3), ranked second in the Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll behind Lakota West and fifth in the Associated Press Division I statewide poll, will play Lakota West in the Sweet Sixteen (Regional Semi-Final) this coming Wednesday night at Kettering Fairmont’s Trent Arena. West (24-2) also had a “come-from-behind contest on Saturday, defeating Beavercreek 53-51 to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16.

The contest will be a re-match of last years Regional Final in which Mason came away with a win and went on to a State Runner Up finish in 2016. The two teams split the series this season with Mason winning 44-42 and West 64-61. The Comets take a seven-game winning streak into the game. Tip off is set for 8:00 pm. The winner will play either Mt. Notre Dame or McAuley on Saturday for a trip to State.

The Mason Girls Basketball team earned a spot in the Regional Final on Wednesday night by defeating #2 ranked Lakota West 44-43, in a thrilling and emotional contest between the two GMC powerhouses. The Comets and Firebirds were meeting for a "rubber match" after splitting games in the regular season and sharing the 2016-17 GMC crown. Last year the schools met in the regional final, with Mason winning handily (49-30). This contest had all the makings of another classic and didn't disappoint. 

In a back-and-forth first half that featured six lead changes, four ties and the widest lead was Lakota West’s four-point first-quarter margin, sophomore Sammie Puisis scored eight points to lead the Comets to a 21-18 halftime lead. Puisis went on to lead Mason with 13 points and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe. 

Junior Anna Brinkmann logged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Mason, which actually took the lead for good at 18-16 on a Puisis bucket in the last two minutes of the first half and led by as many as eight points twice in the third quarter.

In the final quarter Mason had chances to put the game away, but struggled from the free throw line. The Comets went to the line 32 times in the contest, but only sank 18. Meanwhile West was not going away without a fight. A West layup with 16.6 seconds left cut Masons lead to one point. West had a couple more chances to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but either fouled or turned the ball over. Mason missed two free throw tosses with 3.4 seconds and a West halfcourt heave fell short as the buzzer sounded. Mason hung on to earn their third trip to the Regional Final in the past four seasons. 

Of note, several Comets came off the bench to make contributions after an injury to Samari Mowbray. Saylor Norton, Kyra Simmons and Makenzie Dixon played important roles in the Mason win. 

The Mason Comets (24-3) ranked fifth in the state will carry the GMC banner into an "Elite Eight" match up with Mt. Notre Dame (23-4) on Saturday night, March 11th @ 7:00 PM at Fairmont High School's Trent Arena.  MND, the #4 team in the Enquirer poll, upset McAuley 37-36 in the Regional opener to punch their ticket to the finals. 

Its been over 5 years since the two schools played each other in the 2012 post season. Mason defeated MND 44-16 in a first round sectional contest that year to advance. The winner of Saturday's Elite Eight matchup will advance to the OHSAA "Final Four".

The Girls will be seeking their 5th Regional Title in the history of Mason Girls basketball storied program.

Mason girls basketball ended another tremendous season too soon on Saturday at the Regional Championship at Trent Arena. The Comets were striving to make it 2nd consecutive trips to the State Final Four, but were stopped by a determined Mount Notre Dame team. Final score 41-35. Mason, which led most of the contest, struggled in the final mintues, while MND executed down the stretch to steal the win and advance.

Mount Notre Dame trailed 8-1, after not registering a field goal until almost two minutes remained in the opening quarter. A 5-0 run trimmed their deficit to two at the end of the period.

The Cougars tied the score at 10-10 with under five minutes left until halftime, but after the two teams traded baskets, Mason went on a 5-0 run of their own, claiming a 17-12 lead at the half.

In the beginning of the second half, Mason extended their lead to eight after a three-pointer from sophomore forward Sammie Puisis, but the teams stayed even in the quarter as Mason led 22-17 headed into the fourth. Puisis finished with 8 points and Anna Brinkman added 10 and a double-double with 12 rebounds.

After Mount Notre Dame cut their deficit to three in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, the Comets went on a 7-2 run and grabbed another eight-point lead with less than five minutes remaining.

However, Mount Notre Dame refused to back down. The Cougars went on an 8-0 run, tying the score at 29 points, and then claimed their first lead of the game with just more than two minutes left at 34-33. Mason only scored once more the remainder of the game, and Mount Notre Dame clinched the 41-35 win ending a great season for the Comets (23-4 overall, 15-1 GMC.

The 2016-17 GMC (co-champs), Sectional, District and Regional Runnerup Comets will return a bevy of experienced and talented players next season.

Sammie Puisis was named the GMC Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Senior Samari Mowbray earned the GMC Defensive Player of the Year.

Mason Swimming hosted their annual Invitational this past Saturday featuring 31 teams.

The boys team finished 3rd behind Akron Firestone & St. Xavier.

Davis O'Brien, Harrison Wright, & Mike Jones lead the team with top 8 finishes in each of their 2 individual events. All 3 had lifetime best swims. The 200 Medley Relay was our top relay performance finishing 3rd. They were Alex Gao, Harrison Wright, James Kim, Michael Jones.

Next up is a quad meet with Lebanon, Loveland and Princeton at Mason on Saturday, Dec. 10th.

The varsity boys squad hosted Lebanon, Princeton, & Loveland in a quad meet last Saturday. They easily won the meet scoring 137 points over Lebanon's 59, Princeton's 54, & Loveland's 46.

The Mason Boys Varsity swim team hosted the defending state champions, Upper Arlington, this past Saturday. The boys team came away with their first ever win against UA by a score of 164-145! It was a total team win with many seasonal and lifetime best swims.

The boys squad were led by more depth than individual wins. Mason's only win was turned in by sophomore Lonnie Chien who won the 100 Butterfly.

Junior Ethan Devyak was 2nd in both the 100 & 200 Freestyle.Junior Puran Kansaker was 2nd in the 200 IM & 100 Breaststroke. Sophomore Scott Shepherd was 2nd in the 100 Butterfly & 100 Backstoke. Allen Feng was 2nd in Diving.

This weekend both teams will be competing in the Southwest Classic this weekend, which is the largest meet in the nation with over 8 preliminary sites in the Greater Cincinnati & Dayton area. Finals will be held at St. X High School.

In the individual events, the fastest 32 swimmers in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each sectional site (Centerville, Keating, Mason, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 32 will be added at the end in open lanes.

For relay events, the fastest 24 relay teams in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each site (Centerville, Keating, Mason, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 24 will be added at the end in open lanes.

In Boys Division I Diving, divers from the Keating, Mason, and combined Centerville/Trotwood sites will each qualify two (2) divers for a total of six (6) automatic qualifiers. In addition, eighteen (18) at large divers (based on scores) will advance for a field of twenty-four (24) qualifying to the district meet.

Congratulations to the girls swimming team for winning their GMC team title over the weekend. This is the girl’s 10th straight league title finishing 280 points ahead of Lakota West. The Comets have won the league title every year since entering the GMC in 2008-09.

Congratulations to Ashley Volpenhein, Allison Bloebaum & Ethan Devyak for being named GMC Swimmers of the Meet. Ashley won the 50 & 100 Freestyle, while Allison won the 200 & 500 Freestyle. This was Ashley’s 4th year that she has won this award. In addition the following swimmers won a league title:

Our divers performed very well Friday night. Julia Dilley finished 8th, while Grace Daubenmerkl, Kate Moeller, & Lauren Rose finished 10th, 11th, & 16th.

Next up for Mason is the Sectional Championships, with Diving on Wednesday, Feb. 8th and Swimming on Saturday, Feb. 11th.

GIRLS DIVISION I ADVANCERS TO DISTRICT
In the individual events, the fastest 32 swimmers in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each sectional site (Centerville, Keating, Mason AM, Mason PM, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 32 will be added at the end in open lanes.

For relay events, the fastest 24 relay teams in the event will advance to the District meet. However, each site (Centerville, Keating, Mason AM, Mason PM, and Trotwood) will advance two (2) automatic qualifiers. Any automatic qualifier not in the top 24 will be added at the end in open lanes.

Girls Division I Diving: The sectionals at combined Trotwood/Centerville, Keating, and combined Mason will qualify two (2) automatic divers each, plus a total of eighteen (18) additional divers based on score, for a field of twenty-four (24) qualifying to the District Tournament.

The Mason Girls swimming and diving teams competed in the Sectional this past weekend. The girls team came out on top winning the sectional meet by over 100 points. This is their 5th straight Sectional win.

Our swimmers will be competing at the District Championships on Saturday at Miami University. The girls will begin competing at 5:45 pm. Mason girls will be seeking their 4th District title in the last 5 years.

GIRLS DIVISION I ADVANCERS TO STATE
The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. Seven (7) divers will qualify to the State Meet.

The Mason Girls Swimming team had an awesome District meet this past weekend at Miami University. They defended their District title from last year giving them 4 District titles in the last 5 years! Ursuline was considered the team beat this year, but Mason overcame their score and then won by 30 points.

GIRLS STATE RUNNERUP!

The Mason Girls Swimming Team had an OUTSTANDING weekend in Canton, finishing as the State Runner-up for the second straight year. Mason finished with 230 points only 16 points behind Upper Arlington. The team had 2 individual state champions in Allison Bloebaum and Ashley Volpenhein who brought home three state titles. The Comets also had 4 runner-up performances.

Junior Allison Bloebaum won the 200 and 500 Freestyle. This is the second year in a row winning the 500 Freestyle.
Senior Ashley Volpenhein won the 100 Freestyle and was runner-up in the 50 Freestyle. This gives her 6 individual titles plus 1 relay win in her illustrious career at Mason.

Next up for the Comets is the Iron Man Invitational hosted by Walsh Jesuit in Akron, Ohio.

The Mason wrestling team finished 15th as a team at the Ironman wrestling tournament last Saturday. It is regarded as the toughest tournament in the country. The Comets competed against nearly 100 invited teams from across the entire US. Most of the teams finishing ahead of us were Prep schools and private schools.

Zack Donathan won the 132 pound weight class. He did so in one of the toughest weights in the tournament. His bracket had 7 top 15 ranked wrestlers in the country. He did so beating the number 2, 5, and 15 ranked kids in the country. This is the equivalent of winning a national title.

Next up Mason will host powerhouse Moeller this Thursday in a dual meet. On Saturday the Comets wrestlers participate in the Dvorak Invitational.

The Mason Wrestling team crushed Moeller in a dual match on Thursday night. Final score Mason 58-11 over Big Moe. The Comets won 9 out of the 12 matches. No other details provided.

Coming up next for Mason Wrestling is the prestigious Dvorak Invitational, Dec. 22-23.

Comets Repeat At WV Duels!

The Wrestling Comets traveled to Beckley, WV this past Saturday for the 10th Annual WV Army National Guard Dual Team Tournament. Mason competed with 35 teams from West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio, going undefeated (9-0) winning the two day tournament for the second consecutive year. The Comets improve their season’s dual team record to 15-0.

Mason moved up to 27th in the country, ranked by TOM, The Open Mat website.

Mason travels to Indianapolis this coming Saturday to compete in the Cathedral 6 dual team tournament.

Coming up on Saturday, January 21st, Mason will once again host the annual James V. Horning Invitational at the Mason Middle School Arena.

Another Victory for the Comets

Mason was victorious in the 13th Annual John V. Horning Memorial, scoring 315.5 points, with Indiana power house Indianapolis Cathedral coming in 2nd place with 237.5 points. Zach Donathan (132) was named the tourney's Most Valuable Wrestler. In the finals, Donathan defeated another USA highly ranked opponent, in a very close and exciting match.

Before the finals, Zach Marshall, Mason’s first Ohio State Wrestling champion, was inducted into the John V. Horning Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Mason advances in the OHSAA State Team Duals to the Regional Semifinals next Wednesday, February 1st at Vandalia Butler against #3 Lebanon. The winner will get either Northmont or Butler later that evening for a Regional title and advancement to the OHSAA State Quarterfinals.

Mason heads to Lowell, Michigan this weekend to compete in the Lowell Super 6 dual tournament, taking on top Michigan D1, D2 and D3 teams.

Region 7 Champions, move on to Final Eight

Mason traveled to Butler High School Wednesday night, competing in the Region 7 Dual team finals. The Comets beat Lebanon in the semi-final match, and then defeated Butler in the Region 7 Final.

Mason travel’s to St John Arena in Columbus this Sunday for the State Dual Team finals. The Comets are ranked this week in the National polls at #32 overall.

The OHSAA Sectional Championships will be held at Lebanon HS on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25th. Each sectional will qualify the top four (4) wrestlers in each weight class to the district tournament.

The Comet Wrestling team traveled to St. John Arena in Columbus on Sunday, competing in the OHSAA State Dual Team Championships. Mason defeated Brecksville 39 -21 in the quarter finals, advancing to the final four. The Comets were defeated in the semi-finals by the eventual champions, Lakewood St. Edward. by a score of 39 – 24.

DONATHAN ENDS PERFECT SEASON WITH A STATE TITLE!

Zack Donathan etched his name into Mason Wrestling history this past weekend winning the 132lb Division 1 State Title in Columbus, Ohio! In a dominating performance, Zack defeated Allan Hart, of Lakewood Saint Edwards, 7-4 in the Championship match.

His tournament road to the Championship:
Defeated Demetrious Monroe (Hilliard Davidson) 22-4
Quarterfinal defeated Marco Regalbuto (Brecksville) 5-1
Semifinal defeated Luke Baughman (Wadsworth) 5-1
Final defeated Allan Hart (St. Edwards) 7-4

Zack completed his season with a pefect 52-0 record. On his path to Columbus, he won the nationally prestigious Walsh Jesuit Ironman and Al Dvorak Tournaments, in addition to earning GMC, Sectional and District titles. He has also been named the 2017 GMC Wrestler of the Year.

The senior standout now joins an elite group of four Mason alumni who have won state championships:

Jaimen Hood was athe 126 lb Division 1 State Runner-Up! Hood pulled an upset in the semifinal match knocking off Tournament favorite Matt Kazimir (St. Edwards) in overtime 6-4. He then lost in the final 0-4, finishing as the State Runner-up. Jaimen finishes his season with a record 47-4.

Jack Stein 160 lbs, placed 8th, ending his season with a 48-10 record.

Mason Girls hosted Franklin on Monday. The girls did bowl their season high with a 1762, but that was not enough to defeat a strong Franklin team who scored a 2178.

On Tuesday The Mason girls posted their first victory of the season defeating Amelia 1606 to 1553. High scorers for Mason were Faith Ruebush with a 251 2 game series and Julia Caldwell with a 237 2 game series.

The Girls Bowling team ended their 2016-17 season at the Sectional on Wednesday. The squad totaled 1995 pins at the event but wasn't good enough to advance them to District. Mason was able to advance two individual bowlers to Districts. Both Lexie Canova and Sheila McManus will compete at the District Championship Tourney next Thursday, March 2nd at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, Ohio. The top 5 teams and top 5 individuals will qualify for the State Championships.

@ Beaver-Vu Lanes

The Mason Boys bowling team had a great start to the 2016-17 season on November 28th. They faced Taylor at home and won 2788 to 2232.
Notable scores were Evan Haas at 432 (216 average) and Damian Sauer at 428 (214 average).

Next up Mason Boys participate in the Hamilton Big Blue Tourney on Sunday, Dec. 4th.

The Mason Boys Bowling team finished 5th overall out of 25 teams at the Big Blue Tournament this past Sunday. The Comets were 3rd in the GMC just behind Oak Hills and Fairfield. It was a good first tournament for the boys showing them just how good they can be.

Evan Haas had a spectacular day bowling a 3 game series of 702 and placing third overall.
David Neal also had a good day bowling a 610 3 game series.

Next up Mason will host Franklin on Monday, Dec. 5th.

Monday evening the boys bowling team faced off against Franklin HS. The Comets bowled very well and managed a 2808 total. After 14 games that is a 200 average. That was enough to defeat a good Franklin team who only scored a 2726.

High scorers for Mason were Nick Vasilli who led the team with a 460 two game series, Evan Haas was second with a 456, and David Neal had a 411.

The Boys team defeated Amelia on Tuesday with their best match score of the season. The team scored a 2930 to Amelia's 2345.

High scores were posted by several boys: Jeremy Capehart had his high series 416, Evan Haas had a terrific 473 two game series, but all were out done by David Neal who had his season high of 507.

Next up Mason bowling participates in the Holiday Tourney at Western Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 10th.

Sunday the boys bowlers participated in the Western Bowl holiday classic. They did well in all three individual games placing them in 7th out of 32 teams and did even better after the team bowling round, placing 5th overall. The only GMC team ahead of Mason was Oak Hills
David Neal again led the Mason team with a 625 series on a very difficult house shot. Evan Haas followed up David with a 618 series. Nick Visalli was third with a hard fought 594.

Next up Mason will host Princeton today, Monday, Dec. 12th.

The Comet boys knock off GMC foe Princeton 2584-2278 last Monday. Mason goes to 3-1 on the season with this victory. High scores for Mason were Evan Haas with a 460 and David Neal at 413

Next up Mason will visit Harrison on Wednesday, Dec. 14th.

Mason boy's bowling did very well the past Wednesday, defeating Harrison 2687 to 2164.
The Comets were led by a trio of high scores:
David Neal fought hard for his 426 and Nick Vasilli and Evan Haas both topped out at 439.

The boys team goes to 4-1 on the season and will bowl Wright State at Beaver-Vu lanes on Saturday.

Boys bowling had a great weekend at the Wright State tourney. This even featured teams from all over the state.

This tourney was a difficult pattern based on a collegiate pattern designed to make it difficult on the bowlers. After the first round Mason boys were in 6th place with 8 advancing to the knockout round.

After the second individual round the boys moved all of the way up to 4th. By the end of the team bowling round they moved to 8th and advanced to the knockout round. Even though they were knocked out in the first eliminator round it was a great success.

Next up the Mason Bowling teams roll on Tuesday, Dec. 27th at the Holiday Tourney at Eastern Lanes.

Holiday Tourney

Over the break the boys went to the Holiday Tournament at Eastern lanes. The Comets did well even though they were missing 2 of their starters. They finished 13th out of 36 teams and several JV bowlers stepped up to bowl well.

Top scorer for varsity was Damien Sauer with a 589 series and Top scorer for JV was Alex Elegeer with a 6th place, 580 series.

Mason Bowling will host Sycamore on Monday, January 9th.

On Monday the Comets hosted Sycamore at Mason bowl. The boys had their best day of the year. They crushed Sycamore who also had their best day of the year. Final score 3063 to 2757. Bowling just 2 games, the low 2-game series was a 403 and the high series was a 568.

Evan Haas was spectacular rolling a first game 290, nearly perfect-11 strikes. He also followed up that with a 10 strike game. The boys had a shot at history after the individual round but fell a little short in the baker round.

Next up the Comets (6-1, 2-0) are at Oak Hills on Thursday.

Mason boys bowling team had a terrific
weekend at the Lancer Invite. They averaged 213 for 16 baker games and came in first place. The Comets were seeded #1 for the championship round and won the first match but lost the quarterfinal match to elder. It was a terrific day.

The Comets boys bowlers defeated always tough Colerain on Monday, 2863-2538. Colerain came into the match only a few points behind in average so it should have been a close match, however the Mason boys had other plans. The boys threw a phenomenal 1121 for the first individual shot. Even though Colerain bowled well they fell behind more than 180 pins. Mason never looked back and ended up with a 325 pin victory.

Next up Mason will visit Lasalle on Wednesday, Jan. 25th.

The Mason boys bowlers defeated LaSalle on Wednesday 2824-2717 to send their overall record to 10-2. No other detals available.

Mason boys had one of their best comebacks of the year on Tuesday. Northwest went into the team bowling round up 130 with only 4 games left to bowl. Mason bowled well averaging 207 and managed a 149 difference in the last 4 games, winning by 19.

Mason boys defeated Hamilton boys 2788 to 2257 on Monday for their final GMC contest of the season. There were great games from Evan Haas 259, 279 and Jeremy Capehart 269, 212. The 1184 that the boys put up in the first round is one of the best this year. Evan Haas solidified his hold on the top spot in the GMC with his 538 series.

Mason boys bowling closed out their regular season schedule defeating Kings 2581-2436 on Tuesday. No other info provided.

The win caps a great regular season at 16-3 and 7-2 in the GMC (2nd place behind Oak Hills).

MASON BOYS BOWLING SECTIONAL CHAMPS!

The Comet boys bowling team finished 1st at the Crossgate Sectionals on Thursday. Mason finished with a total pin count of 4188, besting 2nd place Middletown by over 300 pins. The team has a whole qualifies for the upcoming District Championships and a chance to go to State!

Evan Haas was 2nd highest overall with Damien Sauer number three.

The Mason Boys Bowling team will compete at the District Boys Bowling Championships, Wednesday, March 1st at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, Ohio. The top 5 teams and top 5 individuals will advance to the State Championships.

The Mason Boys Bowling team qualified and competed at the District Championships on Wednesday at Beaver-Vu. The Comets ended up in 8th place overall in a very difficult tourney with 24 very good teams competeing. The boys missed the cut to qualify for state by a meer 108 pins. The top 5 teams and top 5 individuals will advance to the State Championships.

A very bright spot in the event for Mason was David Neal's fantastic day. David scored a 635 placing him at the top of individual qualifiers and second place on the all tournament team. As a matter of perspective that put him higher than over 150 other bowlers in the tourney. It is a great accomplishment since he is the only Mason men's team bowler to make it to state since the sport became a full letter sport, over 10 years ago.

David Neal finished his season on Saturday, where most other bowlers dream...at the State Tournament in Columbus this past Saturday. David bowled performed well among a very tough and talented fied.

Mason junior Evan Haas was named the GMC Boys Bowler of the Year!

Head Coach Joe Riestenberg received the prestigious GMC Boys Coach of the Year.

The Mason Competition Cheer Team started their season with a first place win at the GMCE Holiday Cheer and Dance Competition last Sunday. Hannah Paschke won first place in the jumps competition!  It was a great day to be a Comet!

Next up Mason Cheer participates in the Darby Spirit Cheer Event on Sunday, January 8th.  

Mason Comp Cheer competed at Hilliard Darby on Sunday, Jan. 8th and the girls were AWESOME! The Comets took home a first place finish. They also earned High Point, Grand Champion, and a $6000.00 bid to Americheer internationals in Florida! Congratulations!

Next up the Competition Cheer Squad will participate in the Memorial Spirit Cheer Series on Sunday, Jan. 15th.

Mason Comp Cheer made it another clean sweep this past Sunday at the Memorial Spirit Cheer Series event. The Comet squad took first place were Grand Champions! Great job ladies!

Next up Mason will participate in the Regional competition on February 11th in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Mason qualified for State at the Regional Competition in Chillicothe, Ohio this weekend.

The Mason Competition Cheer Team competed at Cheer Max this past Sunday at Great Wolf Lodge. The Comets came away with a first place finish and were crowned Grand Champions.

Next next up for the team is the State Championship Finals on Sunday, March 5th at OSU's St. John Arena.

The Mason Competitive Cheer team finished their season at he State Finals on Sunday at OSU's St. John Arena. The girls perfermend awesome and came away with an overall placing of 8th in the State. Great job Comets!
